The Decision

The Customer, a leading investment firm, was running an aging on-premises Exchange environment and needed to modernize it, while, in parallel, strengthening business continuity across its critical systems. The project treated messaging modernization and continuity as two parts of one initiative rather than separate efforts.

Continuing with the existing setup meant carrying both an aging communications platform and a continuity posture that needed reinforcement. For a financial services organization, where reliable communications and dependable recovery both matter operationally, that combination was reason enough to act.

The Architecture

Dayo-Tech approached the work as a coordinated modernization of messaging and continuity.

Messaging moved to the cloud through a staged path: from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2019, and then to Microsoft 365. For continuity, Dayo-Tech re-platformed disaster recovery, replacing RecoverPoint for VMs (RP4VM) with Zerto to provide application-consistent replication — and established a DR site with full replication of applications and systems. Application-consistent replication protects the integrity of running systems during recovery, not just their underlying data. Designing and scheduling DR drills completed the approach, making recovery something the firm could verify rather than assume.

The Platform

The firm now runs cloud-native Microsoft 365 email for daily communications, backed by application-consistent disaster recovery via Zerto. The DR site holds full replication of applications and systems, and a scheduled drill program confirms recovery works as intended.

The two elements operate together as one modernized foundation: cloud messaging for daily operations, and validated DR standing behind the firm's critical systems. For an investment firm, that pairing means modern communications without a trade-off in resilience.
